:: hack :: how to make a beautiful bed in two minutes flat

We all know what it’s like to be scrambling out the door on a weekday (or weekend!) morning. Raise your hand if your bed is unmade about 95% of the time. Until recently, I was raising my hand right with you! (I know, embarrassing when having a beautiful well-maintained home is supposed to be part of your life, due to your profession!).

As a busy parent of two little ones, mornings can be (or are always?) what they call “cray cray”. But, I’m here today to share with you a little bed-making hack I figured out, so you can leave your house in the am with your bed (and therefore your head!) in a calm, cool and collected state.

Here is a quick little 8 second tutorial on how I do this in the am. It involves zero, yes ZERO tucking!

Let me break it down for you.

How to Make a Beautiful Bed in Two Minutes Flat

The Four Step Method

Step 1: Lie your sleeping pillows flat. They’re basically already in that position anyways, so this probably shouldn’t even count as a step. This sets up the perfect foundation for your shams to stand up nice and straight.

Step 2: Throw your Euro Shams (or whatever shams you have!) in front of your sleeping pillows. Stand them up straight and give them a little karate chop.

Step 3: Simply grab your top sheet and your duvet cover (or quilt, comforter, whatever you have!) and fold them back together. Once folded back, roll the top sheet just slightly under the duvet cover for a cleaner look. You shouldn’t see the top sheet edge. No need to tuck anything! We’re going for that “casual luxury” look here.

Step 4: Take your decorative pillows, throw them in front of your shams, and give everything a little fluff.

Ta-Da! That’s. It. No tucking, because #aintnobodygottimeforthat . You’re DONE.

Try it. I timed myself and it only takes two minutes flat.

I swear accomplishing this one little task in the am will change your life and have you feeling more pulled together for the rest of the day. Even if the rest of your house is a total disaster, you’ll be proud of yourself that you left your house with a made bed. And getting into a made bed (even if “casually” made!), also works wonders for the mental health.

Bonus - this is an easy way to teach your kids how to make the bed. But don’t worry, we definitely haven’t accomplished that at #casasaccullo yet!
